Effective date: October 10, 2026. Publisher: 24World Media. This Privacy Policy describes how Media Rounds (“Media Rounds”, “we”, “us”, “our”) collects, uses, discloses and safeguards information when you visit mediarounds.com (the “Site”). By using the Site you agree to the practices described in this policy. If you do not agree, please discontinue use of the Site.
1. Who we are
Media Rounds is a digital news publication operated as part of the 24World Media network. The data controller for personal information collected through the Site is 24World Media, 1411 N Sterling Ave, Palatine, IL 60067, United States. You can reach us about anything in this policy through the Contact page on this Site.
2. Information we collect
Information you provide directly. When you submit our contact form, subscribe to a newsletter where offered, apply for a role, propose a contribution, or correspond with us, we collect the details you supply — typically your name, email address, the subject of your inquiry and the content of your message. News tips and correction requests may include additional material you choose to send.
Information collected automatically. When you access the Site, our servers and authorized analytics tools record technical information, including your Internet Protocol (IP) address, browser type and version, device type and identifiers, operating system, referring and exit pages, the pages you view, time spent on pages, link clicks, and the dates and times of your access. This information is collected through cookies and similar technologies as described in Section 5.
Information from third parties. If you interact with embedded content — for example, videos hosted by third-party platforms — those providers may collect information about your interaction under their own privacy policies. If you arrive from a social platform or search engine, those services may share aggregate or referral information with us.
3. How we use information
We use the information we collect to: operate, maintain, secure and improve the Site and its journalism; respond to inquiries, correction requests, right-of-reply requests and tips submitted through our forms; send newsletters, briefings or alerts that you have expressly requested; measure readership and understand which stories, sections and formats serve readers best; plan editorial coverage and site features; detect, prevent and address technical problems, spam, abuse and security incidents; administer advertising and measure its delivery; and comply with legal obligations and enforce our Terms of Service. We do not use information submitted through the contact form for unsolicited marketing, and we do not build advertising profiles from the content of tips or correction requests.
4. Legal bases for processing
Where applicable law requires a legal basis, we rely on: your consent, for example for newsletter subscriptions and non-essential cookies, which you may withdraw at any time; our legitimate interests in operating and securing a news publication, responding to readers, and understanding our audience, balanced against your rights and freedoms; performance of a contract, where you engage our commercial services; and compliance with legal obligations. Where we rely on legitimate interests, you may object to processing as described in Section 8.
5. Cookies and similar technologies
The Site uses cookies — small text files stored on your device — and similar technologies in the following categories. Strictly necessary cookies support security, load balancing, form submission and core functionality; the Site may not work correctly without them. Analytics cookies help us count visits and traffic sources, see which stories are read, and measure performance so we can improve the Site. Advertising cookies, where advertising is served, are used to deliver ads, limit repetition and measure campaigns. Embedded third-party content, such as video players, may set its own cookies under the provider’s policy. You can control cookies through your browser settings and delete stored cookies at any time; disabling some categories may affect functionality. Where the law requires consent before setting non-essential cookies, we request it and honour your choice.
6. How we share information
We do not sell personal information for money. We share information only in the following circumstances. Service providers: hosting, content delivery, analytics, email delivery, spam prevention and security providers process information on our behalf under contractual obligations to use it only as we direct and to protect it appropriately. Advertising partners: where advertising runs on the Site, partners may receive aggregated or pseudonymized measurement information. Within the 24World Media network: where necessary to operate shared infrastructure and respond to inquiries addressed to the network. Legal and safety: when required by law, regulation, subpoena or court order; to establish, exercise or defend legal claims; or to protect the rights, property and safety of Media Rounds, our staff, our readers and the public. Business transfers: in connection with a merger, acquisition, restructuring or sale of assets, information may be transferred subject to confidentiality protections and, where required, notice to affected users. We may also share aggregated, de-identified statistics about readership that cannot reasonably identify any individual.
7. Data retention
We keep personal information only as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this policy. Contact-form submissions and correspondence are retained while we respond and thereafter as newsroom records, and are deleted or anonymized on a periodic review cycle. Server logs are retained for limited periods consistent with security and troubleshooting needs. Analytics information is retained in aggregate form. Newsletter subscription information is retained until you unsubscribe or the list is retired. When information is no longer required, we delete it or render it anonymous so it can no longer be associated with an individual.
8. Your rights and choices
Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have rights to: access the personal information we hold about you; request correction of inaccurate information; request deletion of your information; restrict or object to certain processing; receive a portable copy of information you provided; and withdraw consent where processing is based on consent. To exercise any of these rights, contact us through the Contact page or at the postal address in Section 1, mentioning “Privacy” so your request is routed promptly. We may verify your identity before fulfilling a request, and we will respond within the period required by applicable law. If we decline a request, we will explain why, subject to legal limits. You may unsubscribe from newsletters at any time using the link in each message, and you may control cookies as described in Section 5. Residents of certain jurisdictions may also have the right not to be subject to certain automated decisions; we do not make decisions with legal or similarly significant effects solely by automated means.
9. Data security
We apply administrative, technical and organizational measures appropriate to the nature of the information we handle, including limiting access to authorized personnel with a legitimate need, encrypted transport for the Site, regular software maintenance and security patching, and monitoring for abuse and intrusion attempts. No method of transmission over the Internet or method of storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security; however, we work continuously to protect information against unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure and destruction, and we review our measures as the Site grows.
10. Children’s privacy
The Site is a general-audience news service and is not directed to children under thirteen years of age, or under the minimum age required in your jurisdiction. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you are a parent or guardian and believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it promptly upon verification.
11. International transfers
Media Rounds is published from the United States, and our service providers may process information in the United States and other countries whose data-protection laws may differ from those in your jurisdiction. Where required by applicable law, we rely on appropriate safeguards for such transfers. By using the Site, you understand that your information may be processed in countries outside your own.
12. Third-party links and embedded content
The Site links to and embeds content from third parties, including video platforms, social networks and source publications. Those parties’ privacy practices are governed by their own policies, which we encourage you to review. We are not responsible for the content, availability or privacy practices of third-party sites, and your interaction with embedded content may be tracked by its provider as if you visited that provider directly.
13. Do Not Track and privacy signals
Some browsers transmit “Do Not Track” signals. Because there is no common industry standard for responding to these signals, the Site does not currently respond to them in a uniform way; the cookie controls described in Section 5 remain available to all visitors. Where a legally recognized opt-out preference signal applies to a specific practice, we will honour it as required by law.
14. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices, technologies or legal requirements. The current version will always be posted on this page with a revised effective date, and material changes will be signalled on the Site. Your continued use of the Site after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated policy. We encourage you to review this page periodically.
15. How to contact us
Questions, requests or complaints about this Privacy Policy or our privacy practices may be directed to 24World Media, 1411 N Sterling Ave, Palatine, IL 60067, United States, via the Contact page on this Site, or using the email address published on that page. If you are in a jurisdiction with a data-protection authority, you also have the right to lodge a complaint with that authority; we would appreciate the opportunity to address your concern first.
16. Jurisdiction-specific information
California residents. Under the California Consumer Privacy Act as amended, California residents have rights to know what categories of personal information we collect and the purposes for which we use them, to request deletion, to correct inaccurate information, and not to receive discriminatory treatment for exercising those rights. The categories we collect are described in Section 2 and the purposes in Section 3. We do not “sell” or “share” personal information as those terms are defined by California law in exchange for monetary consideration; advertising measurement described in Section 6 involves aggregated or pseudonymized information. Requests may be made through the Contact page; we will verify identity before acting and respond within statutory deadlines.
Visitors in the European Economic Area and the United Kingdom. The legal bases in Section 4 apply to you, and you additionally have the right to lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority. Where we transfer information internationally, we do so under the safeguards described in Section 11. Our representative contact for privacy matters is the address in Section 1.
17. Metrics and advertising measurement
Readership measurement on the Site is primarily aggregated: how many people read a story, how they arrived, and how long pages take to load. Advertising, where present, is measured by impressions and interactions at the placement level. We do not combine your contact-form messages, tips or correction requests with advertising data, and we do not create profiles of individual readers from their correspondence with the newsroom.
