press-releases

In an email sent to Village Elementary School staff and families, Principal Mandy Murphy said that a student at the Marblehead school “accessed a walkie-talkie and made unsubstantiated threats over the walkie” at around 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday.

According to Murphy, a “shelter in place” was implemented and the Marblehead Police Department was notified of the incident.

“Our student resource officer responded immediately,” Murphy said. “The student was quickly located and supervised by an adult.”

Murphy called it an “isolated incident,” and said no students and staff “were ever in any danger.” Murphy also said that student confidentiality prevents her from providing any further information.

“I want to assure you that the safety and well-being of our students and staff members remains our top priority,” Murphy said. “If any student has any questions or concerns, our counselors and staff are always available.”
