Will Roddy of Swampscott’s boys hockey team was the hero on Saturday, scoring in overtime from Frankie Pappalardo and Derek Faia to defeat Rockport, 2-1, at Salem State’s O’Keefe Center.
Swampscott’s other goal came on the power play as Faia tucked one from Roddy and Pappalardo.

The Lynn Jets (0-2) are seeking their first win after a 9-3 defeat against Somerville in enemy territory.
Nicholas DeNino played his second strong game of the season with 30 saves. Anthony Alessi registered a goal and an assist, while John Crowley and Kyle Furlong also found the back of the net.
Julius Serino, Christian Serino, Brian Boisson, and Jayden LeBlanc dished out assists for the Jets, who host Everett-Revere at 4 p.m. Wednesday in their first home game.

The first period belonged to Hingham, and the pressure was on from there.
Facing a 2-0 deficit after the first period, Jake Vana cut the lead in half in the second period. Another Prep goal wasn’t enough, however, in a 3-2 final.

Bridgewater-Raynham 2
The Spartans (1-1) are back on track after potting five against Bridgewater-Raynham. Jack D’Alelio (2 goals), Michael Nerich, Aidan Fitzpatrick, and Marc Hilton Jr. scored for St. Mary’s.
The victors doubled up the opposition in shots (36-18) and held a four-goal cushion before a late one from Bridgewater-Raynham.

The Spartans (3-0) are perfect a week into the season, topping Archbishop Williams by a score of 4-1 on Saturday. Bella Freitas (2), Alyssa Norden, and Kasey Litwin scored the goals, while Gianna Tringale played strong between the pipes.
Beverly 6
Marblehead 1
Against a tough Beverly team at Endicott College’s Raymond J. Bourque Arena, the Panthers pounced all over the Lady Headers, 6-1.
For Marblehead, Scarlet Lee made 20 saves while Maddie Graber scored.

Shawsheen 1
Eleni Spack potted two goals as Peabody-Lynnfield-North Reading took care of business against Shawsheen. Erin Dee and Abby McInerney scored the other two goals, while Daniella White, Shirley Whitmore and Mia Lava came up with assists.
Bishop Feehan 4
Bishop Fenwick 0
Despite a remarkable performance from Ella Tucker (40 saves), her Crusaders were shut out by the Bishop Fenwick Shamrocks, 4-0. Tucker continued her stellar play – the tender registered 39 saves in Fenwick’s first game against St. Mary’s.

Lynn Classical 43
The Rams ran into some trouble in Orlando, falling to University High by a score of 69-43 on Saturday. Marvin Avery Jr. led Classical with 17 points, while Rolky Brea Arias and Kam Rucker chipped in with eight apiece.
The loss came after Friday night’s defeat against Dr. Phillips.
WRESTLING
It was a “solid day” according to coach Michael Stamison as his Marblehead-Swampscott wrestling team finished sixth at Wakefield Memorial with 125 points, just narrowly missing out on a three-way tie for fourth.
“The boys all wrestled hard and gained valuable experience,” Stamison said. “All contributed with wins and byes.”
Notching his first varsity win was 8th grader Atticus Jakious, who went 2-2. Eighth grader Chuck Conlon also grabbed his first varsity win, while fellow 8th grader Jaymes Carey also earned his first two varsity wins at 2-2.
Junior Justin Gonzalez went 2-2, as did senior Ben O’Brien. Sophomore Phineas Jakious, junior Alejandro Haven, senior Will Woodward, and freshman Andrew Delisle all chipped in with a win apiece.
“Devin DiBarri, Ilan Hod, Jayvery Monegro and Henry Wolcott all gained important experience and are getting close,” Stamison said.
