LTE: ‘Keep Lynn affordable’ means keep it poor and underfunded
press-releases

To the editor:

I read with great interest “Methinks they doth protest too much” in the Dec. 14 edition of The Daily Item. Well written and reasoned.

“Advocates?”  Are they homeowners in Lynn?  If yes, then they should sell their homes below market rates for those that need them. Will they do that? Nope. They expect other people to pay for their advocacy. If they rent, they are advocating for their own pocketbooks.

Moaning and complaining about tax breaks? Let’s look at the net impact – tens of millions of dollars for Lynn.

These same “advocates” want better schools – where do they think the money comes from? Answer: property taxes.

“Keep Lynn affordable” means keep it poor and underfunded. Is that what we want, as a city? Do we bow to a bunch of grandstanding headline seekers? I hope not.
